[DIY] Re: Sanding a hardwood floor

 

Hi everyone, we are wanting to sand my hickory hardwood kitchen floor.  It is a lighter color and shows all the gouges from dropped items etc. and  I want to stain it a little darker and need suggestions on how to do it.  The floor has a pretty thick coating of poly on it.  I also want to know how to sand next to the bottom cabinets without scratching them.  Would putting tape along the bottom of them work?  We have never used a commercial sander before.  Any help would be appreciated.
