Yes your are correct (mv). I mistyped that. I've found out that the whole ignition assembly has to be replaced and not just the thermocouple if that is the actual problem. What I have not been able to determine from any source yet is what the output of the thermo should be or the gas valves requirements as I can't read any of the numbers stamped into the valve. The Desa company was bought out in 2008 and I have not been able to contact the new people as of yet. The phone recording states they have been closed due to bad weather. I know further information will be needed from them before a repair can be accomplished as the wall mounted control unit also does not function. Thank you to all with the ideas and help so far.

hmmm...we measure thermocouple output in millivolts not ma (milliamps)  is
that what you meant 16 mv?
