Re: [DIY] Need some advice for adhesive foam pipe insulation

Keep your fingers crossed we can get this completed tomorrow since Thursday evening it's back to sleet, ice and freezing rain, possibly another record ice storm.  We bought pipe foam insulation (½" thick) and R30 fiberglass batt and will leave the 1" foam panel on the outside.  We have to cut the foam to fit between the studs so will be a little tedious, also got a roll of the foam wrap just in case. It's my understanding (google) that the foam sections  should be duct taped at each end.

Behind the cabinets there is a plywood wall, then 12" open space, another plywood wall and the outer siding. The water lines are inside this wall next to the inside plywood wall - with just open space between them and the outer wall.  The contractor had only used R13 Batt with the 1" foam board….so was still a lot of open space. We will have a total of R37 value, then the board siding back on, hopefully this will take care of the problem - which wasn't a problem till the weather got down to zero.  If anyone has any last minute dos or don'ts please yell out now.  We left the original barn doors in place so close them over the window/wall at night in bad weather.
