To Jan: My advice would be to seal-off that floor drain in the bedroom. I would use semi-permanent expanding plug in the pipe, and then level the floor. This way, if you ever decide to re-purpose the area, you can re-open the drain. Meanwhile, you will have removed the risk of sewer gas venting or a backflow flood.
