RE: [DIY] yellow jackets

One thing you can do is paint the ceilling of your patio a light blue.  That somehow keeps them from nesting on the patio.  A lot of people say that it's because they think it's open sky, but I'm sure they have more intelligence than that.  It works, that's all I know.

As far as existing nests ... you can remove them with a broom, but they'll want to rebuild where they had their nest.  You can also use a hose to down them.

If you must use a spray, just put the cats in a safe place (maybe the bathroom) and spray them; leave the cats in their place for a few hours just to be sure.  If you can have them out of the house that would be the best. Make sure you sweep up ALL of the wasps before they are let back into the house.

By the way, I've been stung by wasps more when I just walk by them (like in a park) than when I remove nests.

Does anyone know of a yellow jacket repellant that won't harm cats ?

Thanks
