Nancy: I believe Heet is alcohol, alcohol absorbs water in your gas tank. During the winter in South Dakota, I use ethanol blended gasoline which is basically gasoline with "Heet" or alcohol in it. Doesn't matter how full you keep your tank, the ethanol alcohol in the gasoline, absorbs the water.

It's excellent advice to keep the gas tank over half full - In most modern vehicles an electric fuel pump is located in the gas tank. The gas in the tank cools and lubricates the submerged gas pump which is in your gas tank. My Chilton's Auto Repair Manual recommends that you never let the gas in the tank drop below 1/4 to maintain cooling and lubrication of the fuel pump.

Most ethanol blended gas is labeled right at the pump - However, if in doubt, ask the attendant at the station - They should know or be able to find out. Good Luck ... Ron
