yes there is a special tool on my 97 ranger that slips around the gas line towards the filter that spreads the wire cage and allows the filter to be removed this must be done front and rear if the inline filter.my 89 bronco ll had a rail mounted canister which the bottom screwed off and an element went in and a new o ring replaced.napa ,vip,pep boys all sell the ford and chevy line removal tools.hope this helps jeff

I think I need to replace the fuel filter on my 2003 Ford Ranger. Any suggestions as to the best way to do this?
