     If you are just pushing the "flapper" down for it to properly seal, I would
just replace the flapper.....Since you make no mention of the "float valve"
and water height, I presume that they are ok.....(Their replacement would
require incoming water disconnect and be a little more difficult.).....
     You may also first want to try to clean the outlet hole under the "flapper"
with a scrubby.....But more likely your "flapper", like the "lever" are just
worn out after 6-8 years.....Pumps
