RE: [DIY] clean stainless steel

I would think a dishwasher cleaner would work. The cleaners are specifically made to clean stained stainless steel. The inside of our dishwasher was heavily stained with buildup and after one application, it looked new.

We used Finish cleaner. Came in liquid form. Maybe dilute it down and put it in a spray bottle. Apply and let sit for a couple of hours then rinse.

You might try barkeeper's friend.  It is the go-to cleaner for fine stainless cookware.  It removes metallic scrapes and stains on white porcelain sinks, when nothing else works.  I don't really think of it as an industrial strength cleaner, but it is pretty amazing sometimes.
