Hey Frank, I wouldn't know how to get it off but can share what we did when we had this problem at our other home with one about the same age. It seemed to cycle correctly but the dispenser - on the inside of the door - didn't open. It was very rough on the edges, probably from years of caustic detergent, so I scraped the scale off and sanded down the edges, especially under the clip that held the door closed, till everything was smooth. Greased it good with a silicone and it worked fine. Over the next year whenever it started sticking, I sanded the edges a little and used a silicone spray and kept it working. Yours may be different but might be worth a try before you take it apart.
Jan, with an expensive, brand new dishwasher I can't get to work properly, LOL.

I have a dishwasher thats about 13 years old. The dispenser (that you put the soap in) has stopped opening to release the soap during the wash cycle.
