Joyce, you can buy very nice oak thresholds, you don't have to have metal. We've had them a couple of times.

We have an entry door to our little porch. Between the porch and dining room we have another keyed door. We are replacing the door and rebuilding the door way between the porch and dining room.
How important is it to have a metal threshold in that doorway? Is there a way to have oak planking in it instead? If we did that, what would we do to keep out drafts?
