..and as I recall, yellow jackets are aggressive and can sting mulitple times (and hurts like the dickens).  Unless you have some of those nasty african honey bees, the humble honey bee has to get pretty po'd before they will sting.

I've come across the occasional yellow jacket nest in the ground. Pouring
gasoline on the nest takes care of them.
