Hi Carmen;

To put it in simplest terms. If your header (the beam
above the door opening) is 2 2x6s, it will need to be
replaced by 2 2x8s (or 2x8s with 2x10s). The current
header (usually 2 pieces of 2x_) is not large enough.

There are multiple ways this might be remedied.
But, the most straight forward is to replace the
header with a larger size.
