Re: [DIY] Foam Insulation

A photo would help.

In talking and reading, the closed cell blown in foam would be the best option for our barn project - except for the cost and the fact we won't be doing it all at once.  All the new plumbing will be finished by tomorrow night, then I want to finish up my new laundry room before the appliances arrive on the 7th of January.  I've read that a 1" layer of foam under regular fiberglass batt is a good "poor mans" foam insulation.  I have one 8' outside wall that needs good insulation.  There are a few areas where the boards aren't tight, especially around the exterior outlet.  The electrical panel is also on this wall.

I'm thinking of using the spray cans of foam sealant, that we are using around gaps and openings,  to put a layer of foam pretty much over the wall, then fiberglass batt and sheetrock over this.  This project is way too small to hire someone, even too small to use the DIY kits.  So - what problems would I encounter doing this?  I don't think I should use it around the large group of wires that come from the panel - maybe use some cut pieces of foam panels against the boards in this area and maybe seal them with tape? One 12' side wall of this room is a stall,  wide horizontal boards, floor to about 7-8' open above that.  Keeping this as a stall, even if we don't use it now - so don't want anything a horse would eat.  All construction is 2x6 rather than 2x4.  Thinking maybe a layer of house wrap, or bubble foil on this area, but leaving a 2 or 3" gap between the stall wall and any insulation material.  Maybe just house wrap and sheetrock?  forget any insulation?
