This is the window in the bedroom, there is an identical one in the living room. I want to put in a door here that will open onto a narrow balcony, to have a way to see out, get fresh air. The actual window is 36"x48", fixed, and the bottom is 5' from the floor, making the top of the window at 9'. I would like to leave the leaded glass at the top, remove the actual window and put in a door. I think a "transom" or something similar could be put in to bridge the space from the top of the door to the leaded glass insert at the top
These are second story and very large pieces of glass. Would this be a job for glass installers rather than just the regular contractor?
