My daughter moved into an old country home 8 years ago. The water pressure has always been low. Very low.

We would like to get her a new pressure tank for Christmas but are concerned the higher water pressure could blow out all the connections or faucets.
Also...is there anything else we should be checking? She has a 'sand point.' Is it possible there is a filled in moosh of sand at the bottom that is blocking the water flow? How could we check it?
We want to do the work ourselves and avoid paying hundreds of dollars to a plumber.
