Thanks Dale, we would have had fun. But the coffee pot is still on and we live about 25 miles from Grizzley.com instead of up the street but the truck knows the way! You might want to come over once just to see how things are going. I'll check out Google sketch and get some drawings down. I do mine all on graph paper so should transfer easily.
Electrician was here this morning - and I think has a good idea of what needs to be done, making sure the old is in good shape and adding new where need, wiring my kilns etc.
Handyman too was here, I think he'll do a good job with the counter addition and installing the dishwasher, since he and the electrician are friends I decided to go ahead and have them finish up that project, with the instant hot. The handyman will also be helping with some other things along the line.
A real plumber :) will be out later this week to see what I have, what I want and what we have to do to get it. Although he, and the electrician both, echoed your words — with the entire barn being open - which is the floor of the house - they can run anything anyplace and it will be cheaper because it will be easier to do.

As for jackhammering up the concrete - it wasn't the bath but where I wanted the laundry room. Now, it seems it wouldn't have been that big of a deal after all, maybe more than just hooking up the plumbing - but well within what I'd budgeted for it. But he was the contractor that had done some work on the house we sold and we were very pleased with him. He may have been thinking of what would be easiest for him or what would be the cheapest for us - at this point it's done but now that I know — I'll have that option open to me.
I'd love to have your experienced eye following the work — I'm open to all ideas. It's quite exciting to consider all the possibilities even though we're working with some drawbacks. Sometimes a work around ends up being the best idea after all. When we get the upstairs done, the real fun will begin downstairs.

Jan: You are only about 300 miles east of me and this is one of those projects I would have loved to have been involved in during my working years. I'm way too old and crippled up now, but I do see a few questions that you have raised, however your proximity to Grizzly's show room is still tempting.
