In case of an undetected leak gas can collect in a pocket under a concrete floor. The resulting explosion will then lift the entire floor sending it aloft like a giant Frisbee. A leak under a sidewalk or adjacent slab will act as a channel directing the gas into attached spaces. The short and the long of all this is, don't take chances with natural gas. Four ounces of pressure may not seem like much but there are tons of graves dedicated to those who also thought they could get away with a shortcut.
