Re: [DIY] Light Bulb Socket

You might need a separate appliance module to have the bulbs be completely off.

The first place I head for each time we go to HD, Loews or Menards  is the lighting section.  First to check the price and second to see what is new in LED's.  LED's are coming down in price and increasing in light or lumin's output.  We buy LED's just as we did CFL's when they first came out, 1 or 2 at a time.  BTW  We have one of, if not the first cfl we bought still working in our kitchen's offset pantry.  It is one of those with a fat base and the U shaped tubes.  This thing has to be well over 30 years old.  Just for grins I Googled China LED Lights and what I found is that many of the higher intensity bulbs are probably only usable in Europe as they are rated for 220 VAC, but the prices are certainly appealing.

If you switch over to CFL or even better LED bulbs they make more light with a lot less heat than do incandescent bullbs.

I have gotten a lot of use out of the old style lights for my fish takns by changing out the biulbs.

You are living dangerous girl.  I've seen several fires that were cause from wiring that had been baked, and have even seen the ceiling joist chard just from the heat of the bulbs being used.

I assume my problem is that I use lights with a higher wattage than is recommended - can't abide a dark room.
