Re: [DIY] Plaster/lathe

 

This is what I've decided to do with my "rehab" house. Originally, I'd
thought to save the plaster walls, but it's turned out that there's too much
damage to them. It's more cost effective to tear it all down and replace
with drywall, that to try and repair the damaged plaster. And, once the
plaster and lath are down, then the rest of the rewiring can be done, as
well as the plumbing, because the walls will be opened up.

I could probably do the removal myself; in fact, I'd already begun; but my
contractor can have it removed faster and can dispose of it easier than I
can. It's as much the disposal "problem" as anything else that pushed me to
let the contractor do the job. He can get a better rate on a dumpster than
I can, plus with more bodies/hands, it can be done faster.
