I think it's fine. The cord used is heavy duty rubber SO cable - same as used on any portable power tool.  NEC only says that cord shall be connected in such a manner as to prevent stress from being transmitted to joints and terminals.  I pass the cord through a flange designed to clamp SO cable and relieve the stress. NEC even says knotting the cord or wrapping with tape is an acceptable means of stress relief (NEC 2008, paragraph 400.10).

Dale, that box should be supported on chains. Supporting it on the cord is not good practice. It will cause extra wear on the cord.
