RE: [DIY] Hoses n spigots

If your leak is at the hose connection, most likely you need a washer.  If, on the other hand, the hose connection is bent because someone stepped on it or ran over it with the car, you can get hose repair fittings at most home stores.

If the leak is at the nut at the base of the stem where you turn the wheel, all you need to do is open the valve and tighten the nut.

If the leak is where the hose bibb is connected to the pipes coming out of the house, then you need to replace something, there, depending on what your pipe is made of.

BTW ... I heard from people working at stores selling those hoses that unwrap when you turn the water on and shrivel up when the water is off and there have been a lot of returns due to popped hoses.  The hose is made of some sort of cloth and dirt gets into the material causing damage to it.  Good idea, but not the right stuff yet.

Subject: [DIY] Hoses n spigots

Very amateur lingo being used here. I have hoses and spigots whereas when i connect and turn on water there are leaks at the "connections". Is there a way to prevent this in future but also repair existing without plumbers or new hose?
