no. polarized plugs are meant to insure that no external metal part will be grounded (typically the white wire). the green conductor is a "grounding" conductor to provide a quick path to ground.

I used to think that the pump will turn the same way no matter which way you wire it. Before polarized plugs you did not have to watch how you put the plug in the wall. Have I been wrong all this time?

Yes it came with instructions to a pressure switch but not to a plug in (like plugging into a extension cord). I'm just not for sure that it makes any difference which way the pump turns. Sorry I'm not as smart as you are that's why I'm asking.
