Most water pumps have a floating neutral and that is why no polarity is indicated in the wiring.

Just purchased a 115v 2 wire plus ground pump. 2 wires are black, one wire is green. I know the green wire is ground. Does it matter which one of the black wires is used for voltage and the other used as neutral. I am just making a plug in.
