First off, I want to thank (once again) each and every one of you for helping me out. I was thinking about the seemingly simple (?) act of spackling, or filling a hole in the wall. And/or drywall, etc. Long time ago, before "mass production" techniques came into effect, craftsmen hired boys to help them out. As I understand it, these boys would leave their families and live with the craftsman to help and learn their trade. If the adult craftsman was skilled, he would pass on his techniques to his apprentice. Naturally some of these apprentices became very skilled at their craft.
