Re: [DIY] Infrared heater

most portable 120-volt heaters will consume 1500 watts, the most a 15 or 20 amp circuit can handle. 1500 watts is 1500 watts, no matter how it is packaged. for a small area, a heater without a fan will do OK, but a heater with a fan will usually work better for a medium sized or larger area. if you want to be more comfortable, increase the humidity as you increase the heat. lower temperature, such as 70 with 50% humidity is more comfortable than 76 at 30% humidity. consider safety when you purchase a heater: small children are easily harmed by hot surfaces or a high speed blade. most newer heaters have a tip-over switch to shut off heater when knocked over. Always keep heaters away from drapes, furnishings and clothing.

Does anyone trust these?
They sound great with less moisture and oxygen use than normal heating, and I presume less expensive.
