RE: [DIY] Ceiling fan

Well first, get a ladder.  :-)

Seriously, the things that have worked for me is to check:

Ceiling mounts - if they're loose, tighten them

Fan blades - same thing.  Over time sometimes the screws loosen up causing blade wobble.

If neither of those work, Home Depot and other hardware stores sell a blade balancing kit which is essentially stick on weights

you put on the topside of the blades that, if done properly, will even out the wobble enough to stop being annoying.  Pretty

straight forward but requires trial and error and a bit of patience.

Oh, and it's *really* important that you thoroughly clean the

area where you will put the stick on weights or those puppies will come flying off like nobodys business.

Wall spackle is your friend when that happens.

Don't ask how I know this.  :-)

Subject: [DIY] Ceiling fan

We have a ceiling fan about 20' high. It is not balanced and makes noise when it turns. Does anyone know how to balance it so it will turn smoothly?

Thanks
