Lotsa folks just tie a big black garbage bag over
the chimney. Fireplaces are hard to get past code,
nowadays, into a building. To MANY buyers, they
are very valuable. And ash pits? Pure gold!
Wind turbines are $25 and create a suction, which
many folks like, but render the fireplace unusable,
or, the nylon bearing they have gets melted. They
come off easily, however. They suction keeps old
ash smell out of the house.
