[DIY] Another use for wood scrap:

 

This is assuming that you have a good miter saw, but here is a photo of another use for scrap.  Use C-Clamps to hold work pieces and these clamp jigs can be easily made in any size depending on work.  The real trick to keep glue from sticking to the clamps is to wax the clamp using paraffin and a heat gun.  Apply heat until the wax is thoroughly absorbed by the wood, wiping off all of the excess while the piece is still hot.   I insert a strip of brass at the corner to leave a small kerf so that a thin bladed saw can be used to insure a good corner fit.  Scribe a line as shown using a sharp blade before assembly for alignment purposes.  Works equally well for butt joints too.  Glue all parts to insure that the clamp jig stays true and square.  You can also use bungee cords between jigs to hold your work as well.  These are not limited to 90 degree clamps
