we have city sewer, my house is about 200' back from the road. there are
2 clean outs from the house to the street. the one closest to the
street---just on our side of the ditch by the road---is broken and now
has raw sewage coming out. the clean out cap has been broken for about a
month (my kids just informed me) but this is the 1st time there has been
any problem. we also had below freezing (25 degrees F) overnight and now
there is a pile of solid waste.
can I clean up the mess and just replace the cap or do I need to have it
cleaned out first? and am I responsible as its on my property? or would
it be the city who forced me to hook on to the sewer with a cut rate
plumber (supplied by and paid for by the city) whose responsible?
hoping to get answers before hubby goes to find the mayor! lol
