Re: [DIY] Washing Machine Won't Stop Filling

I don't have that type of washer but that same problem has happened to me.  I'm sure there are different causes but here was my cause and repair...

I hope I'm not jinxing this but the washer seems to be fixed. I
disassembled the back plate of the washer. I checked the air hose and
noticed that the hose was disconnected from the portion near the tub. I
read a suggestion in another forum (a response to someone with a similar
problem) that stated to zip tie the hose back on. I did just that. I ran a
cycle and fortunately everything ran as it should. Very lucky that it was
an easy fix.

I'm not quite sure if it disconnected naturally or if I loosened the hose at
some point when I took it apart the last time to replace the lid switch.
The washer has been used several times since it was last disassembled.

Anyway, if your washer does not stop filling up with water it could be as
simple as a disconnected air pressure hose.

I wonder if any washers have some sort of sensor and alarm that would alert
an owner just in case this type overflow happened. It would not be good if
this happened to a washer that was indoors.

Also, here is a link that a "Sheila" suggested in that thread that helped...

A friend just got it (used) It appears to not be shutting off the
water during the fill cycle. It overflowed and leaked water onto
the basement floor, until we shut it off. There is a fill valve, that
(I have been told) has a solenoid that must be activated by some
sort of sensor. But, I am just guessing at what is actually going
on, so I am open to the knowledge of those who might know
more about this than me.
