Re: [DIY] On the subject of concrete

Lena,
You could use shotcrete and spray it onto a liner as they do when building monolithic or thin shell concrete buildings.
you would probably have to have the structure engineered so you have the proper rebar sizes for reinforcing and the thickness of the shotcrete (sprayed concrete).  It all depends on the load it will be supporting.
They do bury monolithic domes.

Since there seems to be some here that like to dabble in concrete. I'm toying on a major (I guess) project. Our house was built basement at ground level then fill was brought in and backfilled around the basement. The house actually sits on a man made hill due to a major stream not to far away. I have been thinking of digging out from the basement door across where we park our vehicles, Turning then installing a concrete ramp. This would allow us to use our forklift to move things in and out of the basement. This would also retain our "highwater" out where it belongs. I have searched the internet but can't find how thick to make the top of this tunnel since once finished our vehicles will be parking in that area. Any ideas on thickness?
Thanks
Lena
