RE: [DIY] New Roof HVAC== Help please

I have an 18,000 BTU heat pump on my garage.  It is variable speed, super efficient (19.5 SEER).  I have used it when the outside temp was nearing 100F and also when the outside was 32F.  I have not had anything colder than that (Houston, Tx).  The high capacity coupled with variable speed (better turn-down than conventional compressor) keep the garage perfectly comfortable all the time. This setup cost about 35% more than a lower SEER set up (conventional AC + electric heater coils), but it will pay for itself over 10 years. The increase in my electric bill has been almost imperceptible, even though I had nothing in the garage before this.

Thanks to all your comments...we are indeed blessed gettting
thank much 30+ years use...

we are located in San Diego, ca..get our share of rain
to leakage is (always, anywhere) critical..no leakage
ever..again..blessed...

yes, the roof is essentially flat...slight, very slight
pitch won't even measure on my square...

With summer temps in 95F+ would the heat pump make sense?
Winter temps avg 55F...lows can be 32F but rarely...

thanks,

Rich and Kate
