Re: [DIY] Re: Rodent control

I should have a degree in rodent management.

First step, if possible,... is to *close the door*.... get rid of entry points.

From there on it is a constant vigilance of setting traps... my personal favorite are the Snap-E traps as they don't even need to be baited if put in the normal path of rodent travel.
Also easy release and your hands don't come in contact with the nasty part.

There are some quick kill rodent poisons and also boric acid ( from your pharmacy) mixed in with some sun flower seed. Most of these have got to be presented so they don't get into your pets.
Tom Cat liquid poison is also an excellent working mix that can be used to soak sunflower seed for an hour and put that out for them.

Mice and rats are opportunistic and will nest wherever there is a nice dry, dark area. Rotted tree roots offer great borrows under the ground that don't need excavating.
Attic insulation, under dog houses in the yard are a favorite as the food is brought to them daily. I think I've even heard of rats using old squirrel nests.
The little critters are true survivors and it takes perseverance to keep up with them.
Any area that has ben used to discard lawn trash like old limbs and leaves is also one of their favorites for a little rodent colony. Also your neighbors might have these in their yards.
Rodents usually nest close to a food source, .... people feeding their pets in their carports.
