[DIY] Re: Now about space heaters

To verify amperage of plugs, find the breaker controlling the plug and turn it off. The amp size is on the handle of the breaker. Now go around and see what all is off. The amp rating of the breaker is the total of ALL of the plugs that are off. You cannot use 2 heaters on 1 circuit. A 1500 watt heater is apx. 13 amps.
They say not to use extension cords because most cords are not heavy enough. A typical household cord is 18 or 16 gauge and is too small.
A 14 or 12 gauge cord is OK if short enough, say under 12 feet.
