Re: [DIY] Smell of Smoke

The smell is probably coming from the padding inside the chair.  Steam cleaning is most likely the answer, look in the yellow pages for companies that do cleanup from residential fires...they might have a suggestion - the place we purchased our carpet from this spring also does specialized cleaning like this.  If you have a steam cleaner for your carpet I'd try that first (ours has upholstery attachments).  I think you can rent these if you don't have one yourself.

Got two beautiful Basset chairs off Craigslist but the owner must have smoked like a chimney. Sat them outside for two weeks. Soaked them with Febreeze and they still smell terrible. Does anyone know of a product or a method to get the smoke out or do these beautiful chairs go to Goodwill?
