[DIY] Help with plumbing????

My dh & a friend changed fittings on our hot water heater (it's located
in a small closet in our front bedroom - the old ones were getting a
little rusty & dh didn't want to take a chance of something happening -
fittings were tight so he tapped on them, put WD forty on them & finally
changed everything - the problem now is we can barely get hot water
to the two bathrooms & the kitchen - he doesn't know if when tapping the fittings some corrosion fell in the pipe & causing tha problem or
not - they thought of taking the water tank out, cutting the sheet
rock wall behind it out & then what - like a woman I suggested getting
a plumber but his reply was "what can he do that I can't?" Mine was
"maybe he knows what to do or has a tool" - we have terrazzo floors
all over except bedrooms, on a cement slab, so if we have to change
pipes I don't know what we'll have to do -
Any suggestions from all the DIY people out there? TIA Joyce in La.
who is tired of heating water on the stove to wash dishes, bath etc.
