Re: [DIY] Help with plumbing????

We use to live in a very old house and the hot water pressure to the
second floor would decrease remarkably as compared to the cold water.
The hot water heater was in the basement.
1. Turn off the inflow of water to the hot water heater
2. Open the laundry sink hot water faucet (all the hot water under
pressure will drain out)
3. Go to the second floor bathroom (with the slow hot water) turn on the
hot water faucet
4. Using a block of wood covered with a wash cloth block off the
faucet. (be sure to apply pressure)
5. Turn on the cold water (thus forcing the cold water to travel
backwards down the hot water pipe and out the hot water faucet in the
basement.)
6. Stop the cold water after a short time.
7. Go to the basement and Once the water has stopped coming out of the
hot water faucet
8. Turn on the supply line to the hot water heater.
9. Hot water should start running out of the faucet in the basement one
the air is cleared. Turn it off.
10. Return upstairs and the hot water should be running much stronger
now. Turn off the hot water faucet.
Enjoy your restored pressure on the upper floors! And all the exercise
you got from running up and down the stairs!
