Though I cannot say for certain I strongly suspect that the only chip that might contend with the 741 for popularity among the hobby and professional groups would be the ever popular 555.  There seems to be no end to the possibilities these two family of chips offer and especially when used together.

Your clear "love and respect" for the op-amp warms my
heart and soul as I am EE and in college Dr Van Valkenberg
who pioneered use of the op-amp ..and helped proliferate
the ua741..of which I have used in untold number of designs
in my career...

We live in great times....
