I don't know what kind of pump I have but when I turned of the electricity and opened the taps at the sink etc, I was shot until I got some small person to crawl under the house with some water.

I even tried to back feed the system but that did not work.

Hi Jerry;

    No. I have a submersible pump, so being below the water
level, it is always primed. However, before the newer well and
the submersible pump (now about forty years old), I had a jet
pump, but never needed to prime it either, though I have heard
of people needing to prime their jet pumps. If a jet pump loses
prime it is likely caused by an air leak.
