Thank you for sharing the "recipe" for mixing the
linseed oil and turmpentine! That would certainly be
less costly than the walnut oil.

not sure what you've found so far, but i use
60%linseed oil and 40% turpentine. i use it on all
my old garden tools that were my grandpa's and they
still do the job. the first time, after sanding
smooth to remove any splinters, i really soaked them,
rubbed them off good with a green pad and soaked them
again then rubbed well again.

now i just reapply yearly. this has lasted a lot of
years.

i also poured some used motor oil in a 5gal bucket of
sand and push the hoes, rakes, shovels in the sand
once a month or so.
