RE: [DIY] Backsplash by sink

Particle board with a Formica covering is what most counters were made from,
just make sure that there is no particle board exposed to water, that is how
backsplashes used to be done

Subject: [DIY] Backsplash by sink

The drywall behind the sink is completely ruined. It has holes in it and
needs to be fixed. There is no backsplash there. I called in the painter,
and he does drywall, but he said that what he wanted to do is first replace
the piece of drywall that is bashed in behind the sink (it's about 3'wide x
10" high). Then he wants to put in a finished piece of particle board
finished with formica on top of that and put caulking all around the base so
there are no leaks. I'm not so sure that this will work.
