I used to manage a medical research lab with a couple of dozen
refrigerators, freezers, incubators, etc. Getting one repaired
required the model number and serial number. These numbers were
usually in inaccessible places, often on the back of the unit.
Whenever we bought a new unit or found the numbers on an old one,
I wrote the numbers on a card and taped it in an obvious place,
and also wrote the numbers on the purchase papers and the manual.
This might seem like extra work but it saved a lot of stress.
