Re: [DIY] Re: Darkend Oak Floor from Being Wet

Thanks for the suggestion. I have peroxide sitting on the dark area as I type. Should I  have sanded the area first?

I wonder if using hydrogen peroxide would help. Pour some on, let soak in, dry out, do it again until you get a lightening effect. I used it on a blood stain on wood floor. No I did not kill anyone, had a cat who had a bad nose bleed for some reason, cat recovered floor did not but using hydrogen peroxide for about a week did the trick. The peroxide oxidizes stains, is not harsh like chlorine bleach. HP is what is used in a lot of those non-bleach clothes products.

The litter box was sitting on a throw rug and the cat's rear end was too close to the front of the litter box and she either squirted urine over the side, or the top wasnt secured to the bottom and allowed uring to seep through.

To my horror when I moved the cat back to the barn (after recuperation) the oak hardwood floor was almost black underneath. I have allowed it to air dry and after almost 2 months the floor is still a very dark brown. I can not tell if the area is getting smaller.
