Dale, I bow to your superior knowledge and experience though I've no idea how a back flow would happen - mixing with the hot water from the faucet?? It's a single handle. We have plenty of hot water, and the recirculator gets it there in a few seconds — possibly a dedicated hot water heater for the DW would be a good idea. We have the instant hot which is basically a point of use but just holds a gallon of water. If GE says this is normal I'll just live with it. If I had it to do over again — I would do several things differently and probably cheaper. Circumstances were what they were and most plumbers didn't even want to attempt it.
Jan:
I was reviewing some of your photos of the water connections, and feel sure you are fighting a back flow condition, However for less than $300 for the heater and probably no more than $150 installation you could put a point of use HW heater under the sink and be done with the problem for good.
