Re: [DIY] Replacing refridgerator door handle

Are you wanting to replace the handle or just get it on securely?  Not sure if ours is the same model, we have a Kenmore side-by-side - 2005 model.  The door handle on the fridge came loose and although he thought he was doing it correctly DH could not get it to tighten completely.  He doesn't remember the details but there is a bracket on the inside of the handle that was loose, he got that tightened first.  Then pull up sharply, push it in and slide down,it should sit down on the bracket.  I know we had a repairman out on another problem and he showed him how to do it.  He only remembers he had to use a lot more force to get it seated than he had been using.  I have the manual if yours is a similar model.

I have a Kenmore side-by-side refridgerator that has a handle coming off. I can't find a set screw or anywhere to loosen the panel without taking the entire interior apart. I would prefer not to unless it is my last recourse. The handle looks as if it mounts to the door using a screw, set into a clip, that is mounted to the door panel (under the handle). If anyone has any advice on the easiest way to repair this, I would appreciate your insight.
