Hi Nancy, around here all the auto parts stores do free battery checks and basic diagnostics. It might be worth trying them and see if someone can pinpoint the problem for you. They don't do any repairs, just check things out, but they don't charge anything. If they're not busy they might even clean the terminals for you or show you how to do it.
