Re: [DIY] Building Code

In CA, & probably your state, the is a State Contractor License
Board. Run his license to see if there is one and if it is
"current," (not suspended until his insurance is present,)
there were complaints. NOW! Tonight, on line if your state
has that.

Then jot these down and post haste, go to the building/planning
dept and double check this. NOW...! Monday...Early AM!!!

Then, he'll need a cheap lil old license to do business in THAT
town. The planning Dept can check or tell you which building
THAT is in. Don't pay him anything until Monday night & you have checked this. Don't pay him for work he has done if he was wrong,
as you will have to pay another guy to check it who IS licensed,
etc. IF you have paid him, for material, then do not let him
remove that, in the guise of removing his tools to work
elsewhere.

He gets pushy, call the cops, IF you have checked all of the above.

There were plenty of illicit & crappy & scheisters around
BEFORE the economy turned down.

Sounds like he wants $50 to install a $10 device a few times,
instead of doing it correctly, as Ray has stated.

THESE INSTRUCTIONS are clearly stated inside the GFI package on paper. SOME guys STILL are not aware of this...!

There's an old, true, Readers Digest story from around 1960.
NYC. 80 yo gal rewired her bathroom. Inspector said it was perfect...! But, he'd be laughed outta the office if he dared
pass her workmanship... because rarely is it correct the first
time even by pros. "Move this wore 1/2" & I'll come back
tomorrow and pass you."
