I have no idea if it's true or not but.................

 

I have relatives in the mountains of eastern Kentucky (my ancestors came over from Ireland in the early 1800s and settled in the Kentucky mountains) who claim that the "homemade instrument" of blowing over the top of a jug, where one gets that kinda deep gutteral sound, was originally inspired by hearing American Bullfrogs and trying to imitate that sound.
