Re: [DIY] Removing pidgeon crap from our shingles ?

I once had a house roof that was crapped all over too... This was before home type power washers. Nothing would take off the stuff... It was rock hard and attached to the  shingles.... Wire brushing and scraping did nothing. I'd say the shingles would eventually need to be replaced, but not before you take care of the pigeon problem....I'd say power washing would blow off the granules attached to the tar base.

Subject: [DIY] Removing pidgeon crap from our shingles ?

I have been thinking about using a wire brush to
remove the pidgeon crap that is all over the
shingles on some sections of our house.

It is mostly on top of our front porch.

There is also a lot of green moss & dirt betweeen the
shingles and I wonder if removing all this will cause
more problems than it solves ?

In other words ....
Does pidgeon crap and moss deteriorate asbestos
shingles if it is left on them indefinitely ?
